Assessment

Why have you come to see a physio?

At Body Matters Physio you will not jump straight up on the treatment bed. I need to ask you the right questions, this is really important. I need to know what you feel, your history, what affects your condition in a positive and negative way, and any other things that help me understand what your body is telling you with pain. I will listen to you.

What does your body need from your physio?

You will get a quick whole body screening examination to work out a snapshot of the issues your body has, these issues may have led you to experiencing pain- pain in one area can often benefit from effective treatment of something away from your pain site, which allows your body to function better and heal like it is wanting to do.

Sometimes an issue is much more local to where you feel pain or stiffness.

Assessment considers any less than ideal postures, movement range and quality of your spine and limbs, strength, muscle recruitment patterns and bio-mechanical imbalances within the body and limbs.

The physio will then feel with their hands to feel areas of tension, restriction and pain in your muscles, connective tissue (fascia), ligaments and joints in your body and limbs.

From this examination, priorities are worked out for  which areas of the body, and which techniques will give you the biggest improvements, with a focus on helping your current pain or restriction.

We can then start treating, confident that the chosen treatments will be the best way to help you.
